The Georgia chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society kicked off their inaugural Savannah Man and Woman of the Year campaign Wednesday. They announced 11 Savannah professionals who will be competing over the next 10 weeks to raise money for the organization.
"For many of them, this campaign is very personal. A lot of them know or have been affected by individuals who have blood cancers or have lost their battle with blood cancer. For them, I think it is easier because it is so personal for others. I think it is equally as challenging," said Jean Doliber, campaign manager.
The candidates will be competing in honor of area children who are blood cancer survivors. For more information, visit www.mwoy.org/ga.
