BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -
The city of Beaufort has come up with plans to cut down on traffic jams around Beaufort Elementary School at the beginning and end of each school day.
Traffic has increased since it expanded its Montessori program and enrolled students from Shell Point Elementary, adding about 100 students.
Right now, they want to make a southbound section of Pilot Street one way and turn the Prince Street exit from the school's lot into a right turn only. Pilot Street is owned by the state so they would have to approve any changes after school officials and neighbors give the okay.
