SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah City Park and Tree worker was honored Thursday for his work to save a woman and her two dogs. William Usher was honored by Savannah City Council for putting a pit bull in a head lock. The dog somehow got loose and was running toward the woman near Gaston and Price, where Usher was working with a crew. The woman recognized the dog as her neighbors and while she went to get him, Usher kept the dog in a headlock. He says he is just glad he was in the right place at the right time.

"I appreciate the city looking out for us and stuff like that. I like helping people. Anyone I can help like that I am glad to do it," said Usher.

No one was hurt in the incident. Usher says he has a history of working with dogs.
