On Thursday, a group of lawmakers from both sides of the aisle announced the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act.
This legislation limits FDA regulations imposed by the Affordable Care Act. The bill is an effort to improve disclosure requirements for restaurants, retail food establishments and even vending machines. The law would do away with guidelines in the Affordable Care Act requiring chains with 20 or more locations to post calorie and nutritional information on in-store menu boards.
The supporters of this bill call it a "reasonable" response to excessive regulation. Supporters said the regulations hurt small business/franchise owners.
The coalition of leaders includes the Chair of the House Republican Conference, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
