Buckhead woman kidnapped, robbed, forced to withdraw money from ATM

Atlanta police are investigating two unusual cases of kidnapping and robbery where both victims were carjacked, taken to ATMs and forced to withdraw money.

The latest victim asked CBS Atlanta not to reveal her identity. She said when she arrived to her condo on Lenox Oak Circle at midnight Friday, a man approached her and put a gun to her head.

"He drove my car and then three other guys got in my car. They made me sit in the middle in the back with a jacket over my head," the victim said.

She said the men held her hostage for two hours. They drove to several ATMs and forced her to take out money.

"Asked me for my ATM and PIN, didn't believe me when I said you could only get $600 out. They wanted to go to another ATM an hour later," she said.

The victim said the men then drove her back to her condo and left her lying in the back seat of her car.

"Yea, they just dropped me off and told me to lay in the back and count to a hundred, which I didn't because I wanted to see what happened. I didn't hear a car that's why I don't think they drove off," she said.

She was the second kidnapping/robbery victim in the Lenox Oaks Condos. According to Sgt. Greg Lyon, the same thing happened to a man last Thursday.

"He parked his vehicle, was ready to go inside when he was approached by several men with a gun who ordered him back in the vehicle and they did the exact same thing," said Lyon.

That victim told police his kidnappers held him hostage with a sweater over his head, while he sat in the back seat of his SUV for more than 20 hours. He said 20 to 25 people got in and out of the vehicle through the ordeal. The suspects picked up some women and even took another woman to school.

According to the report, an investigator asked the victim if he heard any of the passengers ever inquire about a random white guy sitting in the back seat with a sweater over his head. He said no.

"Who knows how they explained that," said Lyon.

Police said after the suspects made the victim withdraw $600 from an ATM, they dropped him off in some woods and stole his vehicle.

"He was then taken out to Rockdale County where he was tied up with jumper cables and basically left in the woods," said Lyon.

If you have any information about these incidents call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
