SC District 1 candidate Mark Sanford visits Beaufort County
BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -
Mark Sanford, the Republican front runner in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District race, spent Friday with folks in Beaufort County. He made a trip to Bluffton BBQ, where he told WTOC he was humbled by the turnout at both the vote Tuesday, where he got 37 percent of the vote in a race that started with 16 candidates, and restaurant Friday. He also spent some of the day knocking on doors, talking to voters about what they expect from him if he is elected to fill the 1st Congressional voter seat.
"Things that will affect their wallet or their pocketbook. I think that plays into what I have been talking about for a very long time now, which is the importance of getting Washington's spending under control and the things I have done historically over the years to do just that," said Sanford.
Sanford will face former Charleston County Councilman Curtis Bostic in a runoff on April 2.
