SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan
Police are warning residents of salespeople going door-to-door selling security
systems.
Several Ardsley Park
residents have reported people knocking on doors and offering security systems
valued as high as $1,500 for free in return for the recipients allowing
themselves to be used as advertising for the systems.
Authorities have found no
area security system companies that market their items in such a manner. Police
say any sales person coming to a resident's door must be able to show a permit
from the city to do so. Residents should not accept a logo on a shirt as
evidence of authenticity.
Residents who are approached
or who feel unsure about the legitimacy of anyone selling items to them should
call police immediately.
