The 2013 Flannery O'Connor Homemade Parade and Garden Party took place in Lafayette Square Saturday.
The funfilled event was a celebration of acclaimed author and Savannah native Flannery O'Connor who was born on the 25th of March 1925.
Folks dressed up in hats and period costume as they walked through the square. After the parade there was a garden party with face painting, photo portraits, and much more.
Organizers say they had concerns about the turnout because of the weather.
"It's great, it's great we were really concerned about the rain and we were considering cancelling and everyone was emailing and texting back and forth and we were like, let's just do it, and I'm really glad we did, it's a beautiful day." said Christine Sajecki, Board Member.
This was the first time folks from the Flannery O'Connor childhood home held this event.
