HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

The father of a 3-year-old girl found dead in Hinesville is appearing in court Monday.

Torres Boles is charged with murder and child cruelty. Boles' wife, Candice, is also facing a child cruelty charge because police say she played a role in the murder.

Police found the child in the hallway of the Boles' home on Bannon Court. Neither the Liberty County coroner nor the Hinesville Police Department is saying how the little girl died or why they think Torres murdered his daughter.

According to a police report, Torres Boles told investigators his wife called him and said their daughter wasn't breathing.

Detective Snyder from Hinesville Police Department testified Monday that Boles left his child alone for at least six months locked in a bathroom during the day with food and water. After coming home and finding the bathroom flooded one night, Boles punished the child for four hours. The punishment involved allowing the child to repeatedly hit her head falling in the bathtub. The detective said that the child slept in the bathtub over night, which contributed to her death.

The judge has ruled that there is enough evidence for probable cause and the case will be sent to a grand jury.
