SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

It's been nine months since Isle of Hope firefighter Wesley Franklin was shot and killed at Deb's Pub and Grub in Sandfly and the community isn't giving up when it comes to catching his killer.

They held a balloon release Monday night at lake Mayer in memory of the 21-year-old volunteer firefighter. With support like this Wesley's father says it's only a matter of time before his son's killer is brought to justice.

"You kind of want to give up but there's somebody whose got your back. They say that in the fire department. There always is. When you want to give up hope and slow down, there's always somebody stepping up like this young couple did today with the balloon release. They're gonna keep the word out there," said Jimmy Franklin.
