Mickve Israel hosts Passover Seder

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Congregation Mickve Israel hosted a Passover Seder Tuesday night to celebrate one of the most sacred weeks in the Jewish faith.

The second night of Passover culminated with a seder feast. WTOC was there at the Mickve Israel sanctuary in Historic Savannah as members of the congregation prepared for the meal.

Passover is a Biblical holiday in which Jews celebrate the exodus from Egypt. The Seder feast includes foods like Matzo ball soup, roast turkey, haroseth and flat bread.

Rabbi Robert Haas told WTOC the meal is a time to remember the past, while having some fun.

"Seder means order. An order to this fabulous dinner, and during this fabulous dinner we retell the story of the exodus from Egypt. However we don't just tell the story, we sing songs, we play games, there's a lot of activities."

Here's a schedule of remaining Passover services at Micve Israel:

  • Friday, March 29 - Kabbalat Shabbat Service, 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 30 - Shabbat Morning Service, 11 a.m.
  • Monday, April 1 - Passover Yizkor Service, 10 a.m.
