SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man suffered serious injuries Wednesday after the car he was driving crashed head-on with an SUV on Savannah's south side.

Michael Frederick Medlin, 24, was in serious but stable condition at Memorial University Medical Center after the 1:20 p.m. crash that took place on the road that parallels Abercorn St. east of Savannah Mall. Medlin was extricated from his car by Savannah Fire.

Medlin was driving a silver 2005 Honda Civic eastbound on Fulton Rd. near Navajo Rd. when it collided with a blue 1998 Ford Explorer being driven by Amie Marie Tatum, 25.

Major Accident Investigation Team officers with the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department say the westbound Explorer had drifter across the center turn lane and into the eastbound lane.

MAIT is continuing to investigate the wreck.
