Vietnam Veterans recognized in Georgia

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

On Thursday, Gov. Nathan Deal met with Georgia Veterans of Foreign Wars in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day.

Deal also met with State Veterans Service Board Vice Chairman Pat Phillips, and GA Commissioner of Veterans Service Pete Wheeler.

According to the Georgia Department of Veterans Service, 228,000 Georgians served in the military during the war in Vietnam.

The department said 21 of those Georgians were prisoners of war.
