SCMPD employees honored at Exchange Club

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police honored four employees for their hard work at the annual Exchange Club of Savannah luncheon this week.

Tanisha Thompson was named Civilian of the Year. Thompson joined SCMPD in May 2006 and has worked as a Street Crime Reporting Officer and is currently assigned to Central Precinct's Detective's Office as administrative personnel.

APO Larry J. Brown, Jr. was named Officer of the Year. Brown joined SCMPD in 2008 and is the primary beat officer for Central Precinct.

Det. Robert Santoro was named Investigator of the Year. Santoro joined SCMPD in 2009 and has been a West Chatham Precinct Patrol Officer and a member of both the Crime Suppression Unit and the Property Crimes Task Force. Santoro is currently assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Lt. George Gundich was named Supervisor of the Year. Gundich has been with SCMPD for more than 13 years. For the past year, Gundich served as sergeant in charge of the Savannah Area Regional Intelligence Center (SARIC). SARIC assists local, state and federal agencies with investigations and information sharing. In late 2012, Gundich was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Southside Precinct as watch commander and Crime Suppression Unit Commander.

The recipients were voted on by their colleagues.
