EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A wreck involving a car and a farm tractor caused the northbound lanes of Ga. 21 to be closed for two hours Saturday night.

Michael Coules was operating a tractor and attempted to cross Ga. 21 when he was struck by an oncoming car traveling northbound, said Effingham County Sheriff's spokesman David Ehsanipoor.

"Coules was drinking a beer while driving the tractor," Ehsanipoor said.

There were minor injuries reported, but there was extensive damage to both the car and the tractor. "Coules managed to stay in the tractor seat after the car ripped it into three pieces," said Ehsanipoor.

Coules was charged with driving under the influence and taken to the Effingham County Jail.
