JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - The Back River Bridge has reopened Monday afternoon after being closed for several hours due to an injury, rollover crash.
Savannah Fire & Emergency Services firefighters conducted two simultaneous rescue operations Monday morning as a result of a wreck on the Back River Bridge.
The collision occurred just before 10 a.m. in the middle of the Back River Bridge. It involved an Nissan SUV that overturned and a Lexus sedan.
Savannah firefighters used the Jaws of Life and other rescue tools to extricate the male driver from the Nissan SUV, and the female driver of the Lexus sedan, according to SFES. Both drivers were treated by emergency medical personnel at the scene and then airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center.
EMS tended to other victims from a secondary wreck that occurred after the first rollover collision.
