SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah business on Tuesday donated more than 400 items through the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept. to help Safe Shelter.

The anonymous donor gave small kitchen appliances and hair styling tools to help the women in need.

Cheryl Branch, executive director of Safe Shelter, explained the impact that the donations have on families staying at the shelter.

"It just is the best feeling in the world because you are talking about people that are coming through our doors sometimes with just the clothes on their back, they've had to leave everything. This will make someone feel so special," Branch said.

Safe Shelter plans to use the donated appliances to help woman who are in the process of building a new household after leaving the shelter.
