CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Police are on the scene of a deadly wreck involving six vehicles on Interstate 95.

According to reports, a tractor trailer overturned in the northbound lanes of I-95 shortly before midnight. Also involved in the wreck was a motorcycle and 4 passenger vehicles. Police have confirmed one fatality. Three adults were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The semi involved was a UPS truck, which rolled on to its side, scattering debris all over the roadway.

I-95 northbound is completely shut down between Exit 94 and Exit 99. One southbound lane was closed overnight but reopened around 5 a.m.

"It is a very large scene that is spread out over several hundred feet over the interstate, a lot of debris. Northbound 95 has been shut down for several hours." said Pooler Police Chief Wade Simmons.

Police are rerouting traffic at the scene. Drivers are asked to avoid I-95 NB Wednesday morning if at all possible. Officials say the lanes should be closed until at least 8 a.m. Wednesday.

WTOC Traffic Reporter Jamie Ertle has a few detours you may want to consider: Since 95 Northbound is still closed at 204, take GA 204 East to US 17 North into Savannah, OR, 204 to Veterans Parkway to 516 East. 516 gets super busy and congested so please allow yourself 30 extra minutes to get to work today. Yes, 30, maybe even more. If 95 Northbound is your ultimate route, then take 204 West to Old River Road to I-16 East back to 204. Dean Forest Road is closed so 17 to Dean Forest to 16 is not going to work.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
