It's less than two weeks until the deadline to file your federal income tax.
Filing later in the game won't affect when your tax return will arrive. It's seven to 10 business days on state filings and 14 to 21 days on federal filings.
But that's not always the case.
Ashley Davis with Jackson Hewitt says taxpayers may also notice a few changes from last year. The refund anticipation loan is no longer available.
But Davis said there are other ways to maximum the refund. College students who bring in their 1098T can help boost their refund.
Undergraduates can get anywhere from $200 to $1,500 extra back on their return by bringing in that 1098T and filing it.
A small, side job can go toward a refund as well. In many cases, that extra earned income can help out on the tax return.
Not sure what to claim as a deduction? The IRS has a list as a guideline.
Don't forget, the deadline to file federal and state income taxes is April 15.
