STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Bulloch County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area of Rollingwoods subdivision off US 80 in Statesboro at 11:56 a.m. Thursday for a suspicious vehicle in the area.

When deputies arrived, they located the vehicle, a black Buick Regal, pulling out of a residence in the subdivision and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled, almost hitting a patrol car, and turned onto US 80 W. The vehicle drove eastbound in the westbound lane of US 80 before driving into a ditch. Deputies boxed the suspect vehicle in and took the driver, Kendrick Heath, 40, of Waynesboro, into custody. Deputies found burglary tools and suspected crack cocaine on Heath at the time of his arrest. Deputies checked the residences in the subdivision and found that one home was broken into.

Heath has been charged with burglary in the first degree, possession of cocaine, aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of burglary tools, fleeing and attempting to elude, obstruction, and various other traffic charges.

Police discovered that Heath was also wanted out of Richmond and Burke counties. According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website, Heath served three separate periods of incarceration for burglary, fleeing and other theft charges.

Due to the nature of the charges, Heath is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail.
