HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

Stacks Pancakes on Hilton Head Island was back open Thursday, despite a car driving through the building Wednesday evening.

Police say a woman was sitting in her parked car in front of the restaurant when she hit the accelerator, sending the car straight into the dinning area. The restaurant was closed when the accident happened.

An employee told WTOC she's glad they were closed because someone could have been seriously injured.

"We were very grateful. We close at 2:30 p.m. everyday, so no one was in the building, nobody was hurt. That's the good thing. We just started business as usual today at 6:30 a.m. and went with the flow," said Christina Pittman.

Pittman says she and the other employees went to work around 4 a.m. Thursday morning to clean up the mess.

The woman driving the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police have not released her name yet, and no charges have been filed at this time.
