SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

First Friday on River Street is kicking off with music, art and fun for the entire family. The events continue through the evening at Rousakis Plaza and end with a bang. First Friday Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Vendor and jewelry designer Kristine Kennedy says now that the rain gave everything a good cleaning, she is ready to roll.

"I am really excited that it has kind of picked back up. I am planning on coming more regularly. It probably has been a year or two since I have done one. I am actually also planning to do the Fine Arts on the River so I am really trying to enjoy and participate in all the things that are happening in Savannah," said Kennedy.

The Savannah Riverfront will host an official qualifier for the 2013 Nathan's Famous July Fourth International Hot Dog Eating Contest at 1 p.m. Saturday. It is the first time the qualifier has been held in Savannah.
