SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The congregation of the First African Baptist Church were getting down and giving back Saturday by holding a dance-a-thon and health fair in Ellis Square.

Lots of folks were having a good time dancing the day away. The group was raising money for Hospice Savannah and honoring their pastor who has been with them for more than three decades.

"The reason we're out here today, is we're celebrating our pastor, Reverend Thurman Tillman's 31st anniversary at First African Baptist Church, and we're the oldest congregation in North America," said Monica Anderson.

"This year we decided to partner with Hospice Savannah to help raise funds for the capital campaign to build a center for living."

The money raised will benefit Hospice Savannah's campaign to build a center where caregivers and medical professionals can work together to care for their loved ones.
