SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -

A body found by a father and daughter, who were searching for mushrooms, was a murdered teenager, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities identified the body as 18-year-old Antwan Devagio Bailey who was reported missing in November of 2012. He was last seen on Thanksgiving Day.

On Thursday, investigators arrested 23-year-old Wade Jermel Shippy and charged him with Bailey's death.

Sheriff Chuck Wright said he believes Bailey was killed during a robbery and thinks Bailey was killed near where the remains were found on Sunday near the corner of Highway 56 and Stewart Road on Sunday.

Investigators said Bailey had cash with him because he was going to look at a car he planned to buy.

"It's a terrible thing for an 18-year-old, or a person of any age really, to die because of a robbery," Wright said."It was a little over a thousand bucks -- certainly not worth a life."

The incident report states that Shippy was the last person known to have seen Bailey alive.

According to a report, Shippy gave conflicting stories to investigators, and he eventually admitted robbing and assaulting Bailey.

Authorities say Shippy's phone activity placed him in the area where Bailey's body was found.
