ELLABELL, GA (WTOC) -

Bryan County sheriff's detectives are about to regroup on the dog attack death of a toddler two weeks ago in Ellabell.

Detective Donnie Thomas with Bryan County Sheriff's Office told WTOC Tuesday he will be meeting with Sheriff Clyde Smith over the next two days to decide what charges will be filed in the death of 21-month-old Monica Laminack.

The little girl was mauled to death by the family's seven dogs, a pit bull and six pit bull mixes, in the backyard while five families members were inside the home.

Her 18-year-old mother, Summer Laminack, one of the five adults, three of whom were napping, is most likely to face charges, according to the department.

After the funeral last week, Detective Thomas told WTOC that they wanted to give the whole family time to grieve. He said department also needed time to wrap up the investigation. Charges could be filed by the end of the week.
