ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

A family of four is out of their home after a blaze destroyed the three-story home Wednesday morning.

A neighbor who lives across the street on Commons Drive saw flames and smoke coming from the home at about 8:30 a.m. and called 911, according to a American Red Cross news release.

The Glynn County Fire Dept. responded and was still at the scene when the Red Cross Disaster Action Team from Glynn County arrived at 11:15 a.m., according to the news release.

The mother, 47, and father, 49, were at work and their teenage sons were at school when the blaze broke out.

"Although no injuries were reported, it appears the entire home was destroyed and my heart goes out to this family," said disaster team leader Brookes Thompson in a statement. "Disasters like this are always heartbreaking, but I am glad we are here and able to provide some relief to the victims."

The Red Cross Disaster Action Team from the Brunswick office provided  temporary accommodations at a local hotel, funds for clothing, food for a week and four comfort kits containing personal hygiene items.
