Some high school students had a lesson in the dangers of not wearing a seat belt.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety demostrated a rollover crash looks like using a simulator to students at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons. It shows what happens in a 35 mph rollover crash when two "dummies" are not wearing seat belts.
"Starting about March every year and going through the summer, that's when we lose the most young people here in Georgia. It's prom season, graduation, it's the end of school, it's the excitement of summer. All of those things take the attention of a young driver, the most in-experienced driver, off the road and that's when crashes happen," said Harris Blackwood, director of Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
A second demonstration showed what happens when the two "dummies" are properly buckled in their seat belts.
