EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - A driver was cited in a collision Thursday night that shut down a Blue Jay Road intersection for hours.
A crash occurred between a semi and an SUV on Blue Jay Road at Horsepen Road and Midland Road. The intersection has since reopened.
Crews had the road closed for several hours last night as they cleaned up debris and diesel fuel.
Investigators said a semi failed to stop at the stop sign and slammed into a Chevrolet Avalanche.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
Despite there being a flashing light, rumble strips and a recently reduced speed limit, this intersection remains one of the most dangerous in Effingham County.
