Students at St. Vincent's Academy presented The Candler Foundation a check for almost $2,000 on Wednesday. The funds were raised during the school's second annual White the Night event and at a basketball game against Long County. The money came from game admission, tee shirt sales and donations.
"The students really work for the cause. It is mostly student driven. They helped design the t-shirt, they did the sales, they signed up, they did the bake sales and they baked the goods. It is all student driven because we really think our philanthropy here at St. Vincent's is very important and the girls are very giving," said Karye Moreau, St. Vincent's basketball coach and health teacher.
The students started the fundraiser last year for the daughter of one of the teacher who was diagnosed with lung cancer.
