BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

On April 17, Beaufort County Sheriff's Office investigators arrested William Treyshawn Brown on multiple drug charges.

During the course of the investigation into a recent burglary at Old South Apartments, police received information alleging that Brown was in possession of an assault rifle that had been among the property reported as stolen. Investigators made contact with Brown at his residence on Bufflehead Ln. in Bluffton.

Brown was found to be in possession of marijuana, and admitted to having larger quantities of marijuana and the stolen weapon of interest inside his home. Police then obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence.

Investigators recovered the stolen AR-15 rifle and seized quantities of suspected schedule IV narcotics, marijuana, a .22 caliber handgun, a digital scale and $2,447 in US currency.

Brown allegedly bought the AR-15 from the three suspects who have already been charged in connection with the Old South burglary during which the weapon was stolen. Sarah Elizabeth Pleites, 17, Anthony Eric McQuarters, 20, and a 14-year-old male juvenile have been charged with first degree burglary and grand larceny in connection with the burglary of an Old South apartment on April 4.

Brown has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute a schedule IV controlled substance (Xanax), simple possession of marijuana and receiving stolen goods.
