Security increased for 2013 RBC Heritage

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

Now that play has started at the RBC Heritage, just four days after the Boston Bombings, security is on many folks' minds.

Spectators and golfers attending the tournament say they have noticed an increase in security this year, and it's making it easy for them to enjoy themselves and watch golf in peace.

"I've seen more security than I normally see. It makes me feel very comfortable."

Sea Pines Resort security, Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, and South Carolina Highway Patrol are all out there, walking amongst the crowd, making sure golfers and the thousands of spectators are safe.

None of the organizations in charge of securing the event would say if they've beefed up their security measures in the wake of the Boston Bombings, but they all say they're working.

"When we walked in the gates today, I thought to myself, should we be going to an event like this, but there's lot of security, it's very well organized," said Dale Zaino.

Even though Zaino feels safe, she admits that she is constantly looking over her shoulder and paying attention to everyone around her.

But there are those who haven't thought about it.

"I haven't thought about it at all," said Kim Ward.

"So we must be feeling pretty safe, right?" said Katherine Rosenblum.

"We feel very safe, yes," ward replied.
