Beaufort family's home shot up

Posted: Updated:

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating shots fired at a Bonaire Estates home late Saturday night as a vehicle drove by.

Just after 11 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Bonaire Circle South.

Several witnesses said they had seen dark-colored sedan with two black males in it driving slowly down the road. As the sedan approached the home, the passenger of the vehicle opened fire and discharged several rounds at the home, according to the BCSO.

The sedan took off and turned left onto Parris Island Gateway. Right after the shots were fired, witnesses said they saw the occupants of the home leave the area. Deputies searched the area and found spent shell casings outside the home.

A 44-year-old woman, her 21-year-old daughter and two boys, ages 4 and 7, had been inside the home when the shots were fired. Deputies caught up with the residents, who went to a family member's home for safety, according to the BCSO.

No one was injured. No suspects have been identified and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
