AG appoints prosecutor for Chatham Co. Coroner case

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Attorney General's Office has appointed Special Prosecutor Tom Durden of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit as the prosecutor in the theft case against former Chatham County Coroner James Metts.

The appointment was granted after a petition was filed to request a special prosecutor to the case Chatham County District Attorney Meg Heap. Heap once worked in private practice with Metts' son Clay Metts, according to the district attorney's office.
