City to announce World Record attempt

Posted: Updated:

Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson is joining forces with students at Jacob G. Smith Elementary School to get ready for a community world record attempt.

There will be a news conference held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with students, the Mayor and other community leaders at the Gymnasium at Jacob G. Smith Elementary School, 210 Lamara Dr., to unveil details on this world record attempt that the public is invited to join during the city's April 28 Play Streets event.

The Play Street will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 28. Lincoln Street will be closed to traffic from Gaston to Henry Street, and filled with dozens of activities, including live music, art, the Forsyth Park Farmer's Market, bicycle games, and the World Record attempt, which the entire community is invited to participate in.

Following Tuesday's news conference, the students will practice for the big event.

The Play Streets series is made possible through a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and the Partnership for a Healthier America. This is the first of four Play Street events planned in Savannah throughout the course of the year.
