Former Hardeeville City Manager R. Shane Haynes has pleaded not guilty after being indicted for misconduct.

The Islsand Packet reports that Haynes appeared in the beaufort county courthouse on Monday.

Haynes is one of five former officials indicted for misconduct. He was released on a personal-recognizance bond of $15,000.

Four other Hardeeville officials plead not guilty at an arraignment hearing last week in the jasper county courthouse.

All five accused of taking thousands of dollars by violating the city's cash leave policy between 2005 and 2006.

It's not yet known when the five will be scheduled to go to trial.
