SC Election Commission to hold photo ID drives in Beaufort Co.

South Carolina voters will need to bring photo identification with them to polls for the May 7 election as part of the Voter Photo Identification law that went into effect in 2013.

Voters must provide one these forms of photo ID with them to the polls:  

  • S.C. Driver's License
  • S. C. DMV Identification Card
  • S. C. Voter Registration Card with a Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • US Passport

Voters who do not have one of these five forms of identification can go to either of the Beaufort County Board of Elections and Registration offices at 15 John Galt Rd in Beaufort or 61B Ulmer Rd in Bluffton.

The SC Election Commission is holding two educational events in Beaufort County. Voters will need to bring their current voter registration card without photo or a document showing proof of their residency in order to participate.

Voters can have their photo taken at one of the two events. The ID will on site for free. A permanent plastic voter registration card with a photo will be mailed to the voter within seven to 10 days.

Anyone who knows of someone who needs a voter registration card with photo, can go to the go the Board of Election offices or one of the upcoming two events.
