United Way holds Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon

United Way HandsOn Savannah held their annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon on Wednesday. Community organizations in Bryan, Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties nominated outstanding volunteers for the awards.

"A lot of what happens in Chatham County would not happen without volunteers. All too often I think volunteers don't get a thank you. This event is just an opportunity for us to say thank you for the support and commitment we receive from volunteers all around," said Jeff Kole, United Way of the Coastal Empire

The winners of the 34th Annual Volunteer Recognition Awards are as follows:

  • Animal Advocacy Award winner: Melonie Kinert, Islands Feral Cat Project
