GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Ports Authority held its second day of its first ever Administrative Professionals Conference. The two-day conference took place Tuesday and Thursday and lasted all day.

It is a time for the executives to say thank you to all the administrative employees. There were about 85 employees that were split up and went on different days. They did this so they would not have to shut down the Georgia Ports during the conference.

The conference included breakfast and lunch, free massages, and several different speakers. WTOC's Dawn Baker was the keynote speaker for both days of the conference.

Griffith Lynch, the chief operating officer of the Georgia Ports Authority, said the meeting boosts the morale of all their employees.

"Really, at the end of the day, it is going to help the organization grow in the right way. I talked to the folks that did it on Tuesday and they gave great feedback. That is what we want to see. We have some tremendous speakers and we are really pleased about that," said Lynch.

The conference finishes at 4 p.m. and the executives say they hope to make this an annual event.

"We wanted a way to celebrate them and to show them that they are a vital part of the organization. We want them to walk away from here with that feeling, so they can feel enriched. We also want to give them some tips and tools to take back to the workplace that they can apply," said Carolyn Smalls, the manager of Learning and Development for the GPA.
