Beaufort Co. Sheriff's Office have hit a dead end in the investigation of a fatal shooting that happened on Easter Sunday in Burton.
On Thursday, authorities held a press conference, pleading for folks who live in the area to come forward with any information they may have.
According to deputies, Darryl McArthur Greene, 40, of Hinesville, Ga., was sitting in his car on Staffwood Rd. when someone shot him. They say Greene was visiting the area for Easter.
The shooting happened in broad daylight, and multiple people were around, including his girlfriend, according to deputies.
"It's starting to grow cold and we just want to encourage people, remind people that this is serious," said Robin McIntosh, Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. "This man had family, he had friends, and we want to give them closure. We want whoever is responsible for taking his life. We want to catch them."
Natalie Michelle Garriett, 42, did come forward earlier this month but purposely falsified critical information concerning details of the murder and its key participants. Garriett was arrested and released on a $25,000 recognizance bond.
The sheriff's office said they understand people may be scared to come forward, but they want to remind folks that they can call Crimestoppers at 1.888.CRIME.SC and remain anonymous.
