Georgia Institute of Technology president speaks in Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The President of Georgia Institute of Technology, Dr. G.P. Bud Peterson, spoke to the Savannah Council on World Affairs Thursday night. Dr. Peterson spoke on the changing expectations on U.S. high education, including steps Georgia Tech is taking as part of an international initiative.

"Today, people expect that not only will we educate students for their personal good, but that we will educate students and that they will actually be able to get jobs when they graduate," said Peterson.

Dr. Peterson also spoke on research that creates new jobs and the ever growing expectation of higher education being on a global scale. In Savannah, Georgia Tech partners with the Georgia Ports Authority to help their students with hands on research.
