CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Country music singer Billy Currington was released from the Chatham County jail at about 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Currington is accused of threatening 70-year-old tour boat captain Harvey Farrelle.

According to police reports from the Tybee Police Dept. and Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Dept., Farrelle began screaming and cussing at Farrelle when he went by the country singer's dock on the public Back River.

Then Currington jumped in his boat and followed Farrelle and the two Canadian tourists also on board back to A-J's Dockside Restaurant, according to the report.

His attorney had requested bond in a hearing with the judge, but Currington did not appear in court. His bond had been set at $25,000 originally, but ended up totally $27,700 after all charges were added up.

No other hearing or arraignment took place because Currington had already been indicted by a Chatham County grand jury. The jail and DA's office made it very clear this is standard procedure and no special treatment took place.

Currington has a concert scheduled for Friday night in Kinder, LA.

His next court date is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 28 at Superior Court before Judge Penny Haas Freesemann.
