VALLEY, AL (WTVM) -
A 16-year-old Valley High
School student is in serious trouble after police found an AK-47 rifle, a
loaded magazine and marijuana in the student's car.
The weapon and drugs were
found during a K-9 search for illegal drugs at the school.
The juvenile was
transported to the Lee County Youth Detention Center and is charged with
unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of a deadly weapon on school
The surprise raid put
school on lockdown, which became an unsettling afternoon for students.
"I was sitting in the
classroom and out principal came over the loud speaker and said we're on
lockdown so we had to stay in the room for about an hour and 30 minutes after
we found out it was drug dogs that came and got us out of class.. I mean it was
scary," said A.J. Hadaway, a Valley High School student.
Eighteen other unrelated
bags of marijuana were also seized in the operation.
