Midway man killed in motorcycle crash

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Midway man who was killed in a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon has been identified.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department identified the motorcyclist as George Thomas, 38.

Thomas lost control of his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle around 2 p.m. on Chief O.F. Love Road.

Officers say Thomas was traveling south when he reached the end of the road, applied his rear brake and was thrown from the motorcycle.

Thomas was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Richard Mclanahan along with Thomas's mother, family, and friends gathered in Midway Sunday afternoon to remember the 38 year old father. There are no signs warning of a dead end, and as police investigate the family says it's another tragedy for a family which has seen too much pain and loss, including the murder of 17 year old Tiffany York last December in Liberty, who was Thomas's step daughter.

MAIT officers are still investigating this accident.
