Flying kites on Tybee for a good cause

There was some high flying fun on Tybee Island!

The 2nd Annual Tybee Island Kite Flying Festival was held on Tybee's north beach Sunday.

For just a few dollars folks were given a beginner kite and food. There were also people there to talk about movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, and more.

The event was the brainchild of a movement disorder patient.

"It's so important because there are so many people out there that may not even know they have a movement disorder and if they do, it can be very overwhelming. And, to know that there's support and different support groups is the first step toward getting the type of treatments that they're going to need to have a productive life and a fun life." said Fran Mccarey, St. Joseph/Candler Movement Disorders Program.

Proceeds for the event will go to movement disorder support groups in the community.
