Shots fired at car at Hilton Head apartment

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating gunshots fired Monday night at a Hilton Head apartment complex.

Deputies responded at about 9 p.m. to Hilton Head Gardens at 11 Southwood Park Dr. on a report of shots fired. When they arrived, a large crowd gathered in the parking lot in the area of the 100 building.

Deputies saw vehicle that had been damaged by gunshots. They contacted the woman who owned it. She gave few details on what lead up to the shooting and the damage to her car, according to the BCSO.

After she heard gunshots, she came outside to find her car's window shattered and a bullet hole in the side of her car. She denied knowing who may have fired the shots or why it happened, according to the BCSO.

Witnesses told deputies that two black males were banging on and kicking her apartment door trying to her attention. After talking with her, the men walked back to the parking lot. One of them got out a handgun and fired several rounds at her car and left in a black Dodge Charger, according to the BCSO.
