3 charged in Springfield armed robbery

SPRINGFIELD, GA (WTOC) -

Three Springfield men were arrested April 30 after committing an armed robbery in Westwood Heights. A deputy in the area caught two of the men in the act of committing the armed robbery.

Deputies were patrolling the area of Westwood Heights at approximately 12:45 a.m. and spotted a gold car stopped on the side of Westwood Dr. and two people in a yard. When the driver noticed a deputy, he honked the horn and attempted to leave the scene.

Deputies stopped the vehicle and identified the driver. Upon returning to the scene, deputies spoke with two victims. The victims told police that two males held them at gun point that then fled into the neighborhood. Deputies contacted other agencies and a lookout was placed on the vehicle and the occupants.

Springfield Police officers identified and stopped the vehicle. Deputies arrived at the scene and arrested the two suspects. Police searched the vehicle and found a 9 mm handgun matching the description given by the victims. The handgun as found to be stolen out of Garden City on April 29.

Ashton Rashad Wallace, 21, of Springfield, has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a pistol during the commission of a crime, pointing a gun at another and theft by receiving stolen property. Peter Johnson III, 19, of Springfield, has been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. Keion Latroy Chambers, 21, of Springfield, has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and obstruction.
