Man Shot, Drives Self to Police Station

Savannah-Chatham County detectives are investigating an attempted armed robbery and shooting. About 11:30pm last night, a man drove to Savannah Chatham police headquarters on Habersham Street and told officers he had been shot. The victim says, two masked men tried to rob him near a playground in Hitch Village.

During the robbery attempt, the victim resisted and was shot at least once in the back, but was able to drive away from his attackers and to the police station a few blocks away. The driver's side glass in the car was broken out.

Police retrieved the victim's money from inside the car and returned it to him.

He was taken to Memorial Health with non-life-threatening injuries. Police located the crime scene and gathered evidence. They're still talking to witnesses of that shooting.
