Fugitive wanted on murder charges nabbed in Florida

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Savannah man wanted by Savannah-Chatham Metro Police in connection with a fatal shooting March 20 was arrested by U.S. Marshals on Wednesday in Ocala, Fla.

Germaine Remond Grant, 23, was sought on murder charges in connection with a shooting of Achmed Williams that occurred in the 1100 block of East 54th Street. He was also wanted by the Chatham County Sheriff's Office on a felony probation violation.

Grant was arrested without incident and taken to the Sumter County Jail to await extradition proceedings back to Georgia, according to the U.S. Marshals Office.         

The case was referred to the Savannah Office of the United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Grant.  

The office got information that Grant left Savannah and was possibly in the area of Wildwood, Fla., according to the U.S. Marshals Office.
