BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -

A Bluffton High School student charged with bringing weapons to school on Wednesday appeared before a judge.

The judge denied bond for 17-year-old Austen Almida. The judge ordered Austen to undergo a mental evaluation.

He's charged as an adult with disturbing school, carrying weapons on school property, carrying a load gun on school property and bringing explosive devices on school property.

"The next part of this will be gathering all of the evidence from law enforcement and presenting that to the Beaufort County grand jury," said Solicitor Duffie Stone.

Austen's parents were also in court and declined a request for comment. His mother began crying when the charges were read. He is scheduled to be back in court on June 28.
