The election for South Carolina's District 1 Congressional District is less than a week away.
On Thursday, former Gov. Mark Sanford made a stop in Beaufort. It was part of a meet-and-greet at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Sanford said that despite negative political ads and endorsements from Gov. Nikki Haley and U.S. Sens. Lindsey Graham and Tim Scott, he is confident he can give voters what they want.
"If you look at my track record on tax and spending - a number of taxpayers have come up to me and said, ‘You know, Mark, you never let me down once as a taxpayer. You have always stood up for my interests and my pocketbook and wallet,' and I really appreciate that," Sanford said.
Sanford's opponent Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch will be making a stop at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce for a meet-and-greet noon to 1 p.m. Friday.
